Victor Charles MBE - KSE President

Vic Charles, MBE started karate in 1973 and went on to become the first karateka to be awarded an MBE for services to karate in 1989. During a career which has spanned almost forty years he won 11 world medals, (7 gold), 13 european medals and 3 european club titles. He was a member of the British mens team which dominated the world championships throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s with five successive world team titles. He founded the British Sport Karate Association in 1986 with clubs in London, Kent and Yorkshire. As an association coach he won numerous national and  3 european club titles. He was appointed English National Coach in 1996 and was the World Class Performance Plan's Technical Manager. He retired from competition in 1990 and from coaching in 2000. He remainsthe  British Sport Karate Association's Chief Instructor.

 

 

Vice President, Molly Samuel-Leport

Molly is a former member of the (EKGB) Great Britain’s Karate Team. She is Britain’s first female world karate champion; female national coach and has 7 World, 6 Europeans and other major winning international karate titles to her name.  
She was a Board Member of the EKGB (2004 – 2005). She has been featured in a number of media articles and won the Sunday Times International Sports Woman of the Year Award.



Ian Cuthbert - Hon. Sec. & Director of Competitions/Events   

Ian has been a professional Karate Instructor since 1982 , has studied Karate since 1972 , Pilates since 1980 and Chinese Martial Arts since 2000. Passionate about creating a Karate Governing Body that is democratic and fair to all. Has been with Steve Rowe s Shikon as National Coach since 1987 and built one of the most successful competition squads on the circuit.



Abdu Shaher - Director of National Squads and Coaching
KE Vice-Chairman, Abdu Shaher: Abdu is Chief Instructor of the British Karate Organisation and a former English, British, Commonwealth and World Karate Champion. In 2009 Abdu achieved a BSc Honors degree in Sports Coaching Science from Leeds Met. University. He has successfully operated a number of leisure businesses and currently runs a Dojo in Teeside, where he lives and is the Instructor to Teeside University Karate Club. He was Performance Director for Karate England 2005 and is Head Coach to the current Karate England National squad.
